Which Model T Handle Is Best For You

Answer the questions below to find the right Model T handle for your setup.

Question 1
Do you want to unhook or release the clamp before you enter the water?
The MODEL T SHORT HANDLE is the model you would need. The short handle will come with both an automatic handle and a manual handle you can switch out. The manual handle allows you to pull up on the handle to release. The handle will stay up in the open position. This allows you to release the handle, back into the water, and the boat will just float off the trailer. When you are ready to load, simply push the handle back down into the catch position. Then it is ready to catch your boat.

Question 2
Bunk trailer (carpet under the boat) or Roller Trailer (rollers or Poly boards under the boat)?
We Cautiously Recommend The Long Handle - And Typically Still Recommend the Short Handle. Here's Why. If you want to be in the boat, walk up to the front and pull the LONG handle to release. Please be cautious — the boat MUST be floating on a bunk trailer for the long handle to release. The pressure of the boat pulling away is what opens the clamp. If you fish shallow ramps this may be an issue and you may want to reconsider getting the SHORT Handle.

You would need to put the boat in reverse and then pull the handle to get the boat to open the clamp in shallow water conditions.

Please Note: You can always add a paracord to the short handle if you prefer to be in the boat while launching.
