Drotto Bunk Trailer Install

Video of the Drotto Bunk Trailer Install .

In this Drotto Bunk Trailer Install video we demonstrate how to install the Drotto boat latch on a bunk trailer. The Drotto boat latch is designed to replace the bow roller of your bunk trailer or roller trailer. There are many models and styles and variations of bow roller setups. Our Drotto boat latch is designed to replace your bow roller according to size. The 3″ model replaces your 3″ bow roller and the 3 3/4″ model is designed to replace a bow roller between 3 3/4″ and 4″ ( just add spacers or washers for larger rollers). The Drotto Bunk Trailer Install is simple in most cases. See below for further details on the Drotto Bunk Trailer Install process.

Step 1

Locate the bow roller on your trailer. Here are only a few examples of bow roller setups below.

There are a number of different trailers. BUNK trailers and ROLLER trailers. The Drotto boat latch works on both styles of trailers. There are also a number of different bow rollers. The Drotto boat latch is designed to fit on the 3″, 3 3/4″ – 4″. refer to the “Drotto Boat Latch Sizes page” to learn how to measure your bow roller.

Step 2

Release the boat into the water. It is hard to move a boat on a bunk trailer, therefore we suggest simply launching the boat into the water.

Step 3

Remove the single bolt holding the front roller on the trailer and remove the roller. Once roller is removed, replace it with the latch. Tighten the bolt snug, but not fully tight yet. Keep slightly loose so the latch can move just a little.

Step 4

Drive the boat very slowly back up onto the trailer or crank the boat back onto the trailer with your winch. You will then hear the click. Once you hear the click you know the latch has secured and locked the boat to the trailer.

Step 5

Simply snug up the bolt that secures the latch. You DO NOT want it extremely tight, It should be able to pivot slightly with the boat.

Double Roller Bow Stop Install

drotto compatability

Here is a good visual if you have a double roller bow stop. In this version, simply remove the top roller, install the latch in place of the top roller and adjust the winch arm to line up the bow eye with the latching system. Another option is to remove the double bow stop completely and install the latch directly to the winch post.

Took a little bit of work to get it installed the way I needed it because of the design of my Stratos trailer. But working great. I wish I had bought it a long time ago. Five stars for sure.

As a disabled veteran, this latch is a life saver. No more trying to hang upside down to latch the boat and the pain to try and crank the boat up tight on the trailer.

I recently purchased a Drotto 3 3/4" w/roller for my 23' Nauticstar and it got here in record time. We installed it immediately (in a driving rain storm) because I couldn't wait to see how it worked.......BOY DID IT WORK! The rain was so hard, it was difficult to see the bow of the boat, but I heard the "click" and knew I was hooked. The only one wet was me....my wife was dry in the truck! The next day we took the boat out again (in a lot nicer weather) and had several people inquire about your product when we trailered the boat at the dock and they heard the click. One guy said he thought we hit something and was amazed when we just pulled the boat out of the water without having to hook up the strap. Your product is amazing and sells itself. We have recommended it to everyone we know who owns a boat and to anyone else who asks about it. I wish we knew about this years ago......it would have kept a lot of arguments from happening at the dock! Thanks again. Tracy and Sue Parks.

This Boat latch is everything it promised to be! Installation was a breeze and landing the boat in a stiff breeze and spring high water river current went very well! Couldn't be happier! Installed on a 20' Ranger 620VS.

Easy install, works flawlessly, no more struggles when loading, simply pull up and latch secures the boat to pull off the ramp to staging area to hook up winch and tie downs. Unloading is a breeze also. Back down, pull handle and done!! Wish I had bought years ago!!

This device makes loading and unloading so easy and stress free it is worth every penny. So I dont know about everybody else but 300$ for the bass boat with roller set up is a lot of money for someone like me but i ended up pulling the trigger anyways. Well it was 300$ well spent. This thing is heavy duty and you can tell it was built to last. Along with the roller it makes launching and loading SMOOTH!! It takes all of the guess work out if whether you are up far enough to hook in. And installation, if i can do it in 5 minutes ANYBODY can. Overall great product.
