Does Not Release When Handle Is Pulled

Handle Won't Release

***DO NOT PULL HARDER ON THE RELEASE HANDLE. THIS WILL NOT FORCE THE CLAMP TO RELEASE.

ATTENTION: The handle DOES NOT open the clamp. The boat opens the clamp with its force pulling away. If the handle is up, the clamp IS OPEN and able to release, BUT the boat needs to pull it open. With the automatic short handle and the long handle, the boat MUST be pulling away at the same time as the handle is pulled. If you wish to manually release the clamp at anytime, we recommend the short handle model option. The short handle has a manual handle that when pulled in the up position, it will stay up or open. This allows the boat to just float off and not worry about the release. When loading just manually flip the handle back down into the catch position.

IT WON'T LOCK IN - Follow these steps below

STEP 1 – The very first thing we must do, is make sure the clamp is working properly. Watch the video below. You can test the clamp by resting the palm of your hand on the mounting bracket. With 2 fingers pull the clamp in until you here the click. Once you hear it click, you know the clamp is able to lock. If you are able to do this, the locking mechanism is working properly and that is not the problem. Then simply pull up on the handle and the clamp should disengage or release. If you were able to complete this task, the clamp is not the issue. If the clamp is not working properly, look at the clamp and make sure it was not damaged when trying to load. Look for any bent steel, gouges in the steel or steel on steel rubbing. If you notice it’s bent, try and bend the piece back into it’s original form. If the clamp is working properly. move on to step 2.

STEP 2 Is it installed properly? On the instructions we show how the clamp needs to be flush against the bow with very little gap between the bow and the polyurethane of the clamp. If there is no gap then proceed to step 3 below. If there is a gap, you will need to adjust the height of your winch stand. Please proceed back to the installation page and adjust the winch stand height or you can watch the video below. Installation Page

Gap In Between Poly

Step 3. If the clamp is locked in on level land, such as the driveway. And the polyurethane is flush with no gap. Then look under the boat and make sure the boat is resting on the bunks. If there is a large gap (small gap is ok) between the bunks and the boat, this means the boat is hanging from the clamp and the winch is too high and needs to be slightly lowered. If the clamp is installed correctly and all of this seems correct, then move to Step 4.

Gap Between Bunks

Step 4. Now that we know the clamp is installed correctly we can move onto the issue with trailer depth. THIS IS THE PROBLEM 95% of the time with customers. We have made a video below explaining the issue

Step 5. If you have completed all of the steps and still can not figure out what the issue is, It may be that you have the wrong model for your system, or your boat is not compatible with our clamp. Please proceed to the Start here process on our website and go through every single compatibility question one by one then step 2 of our models. Start Here

I MISS THE CLAMP- Follow these steps below

If your boat is missing left, right, running over the top or you have to race the motor to get it to clamp, this is typically a trailer depth issue. These problems are common when the trailer is too deep. Pull the trailer out of the water further and allow your rollers or bunks to center and raise your boat into the clamp. Please watch video below for a better understanding. Trailer depth FULL IN DEPTH EXPLANATION CLICK HERE

I Do Not Have Enough Room In My Eye To Attach My Strap

Please Note: THIS IS VERY RARE The eye typically has enough room.

If your eye on your boat is too small or your strap hook is too big, we recommend our strap hook adapter. The adapter hooks on to the eye of your boat then attaches to the strap hook. Purchase the strap hook adaptor CLICK HERE.

Test The Clamp

Test the clamp by placing the mounting bracket on the palm of your hand. With 2 fingers pull the clamp in until you hear the clamp snap shut. To test the release simply pull the release handle and the clamp should release the clamp and open. Make sure the handle is not to tight. This will prevent the handle from working properly.

WARNING MODEL LGEN2

We HIGHLY recommend rounding off the sharp edges on your mounting bracket. The sharp edges on the mounting bracket will tear up the polyurethane and most roller materials.
