Bow Roller

Bow Roller

Bow rollers are extremely common on boat trailers. They are usually a bell shape or a rubber V. They are typically made of thermal plasticized rubber (TPR) or essentially rubber. Bow rollers are installed on the front bracket of the winch stand of the trailer. The roller enables the boat to secure against the trailer. The problem with bow rollers is they do not last very long, sometimes mark up the boat and they only serve one purpose. The purpose is to give the boat something to rest against. Many boat owners replace the bow roller every year or two. With a price tag anywhere from $12 to $50, that can add up over the years. So other than buying another bow roller every year what is another option?

Bow Roller Replacement

Bow Roller Replacement on Boat2Trailer

Basically the idea is simple. Replace your existing bow roller with the automatic boat latch on Boat2Trailer. Why is it called an automatic boat latch? Look in the photo above. The latch has a set of jaws or a clamp that will automatically snap shut and lock onto the existing bow eye of a boat. If you are interested in knowing more about how it works CLICK HERE. The bow roller replacement is a no-brainer in many ways. It’s durability is unmatched compared to a bow roller. It is composed of an incredibly long lasting UHMW plastic. The plastic shield helps prevent wear and tear on your boat and the latch as well. If after 10 years you decide to replace the plastic shield, it is a quick replacement process and only takes a few screws. The latch is not a one size fits all, but pretty darn close. It only comes in 2 sizes. Essentially one replaces a smaller roller and one replaces a bigger roller. Here is a link to our page showing what and where to measure to know what size you would need to replace your bow roller Click Here. The automatic boat latch has so many benefits over a common roller it is hard to describe them all in one page. This Drotto catch and release latch is great. I ordered it and it said 10-14 days to ship. Good deal. The next day, I received an email from Boat2Trailer that my order had been shipped. I received the package the day after. Item was as described and very easy to install. Works flawlessly and I am very happy with this product. I installed it on a 2018 Bass Tracker 190. This thing really cuts down time on the ramp loading up. I’d recommend this product to anyone who has a boat/trailer that is compatible with this. Two thumbs up.

Drotto Latch Large Model: Well made product. Would recommend. Did have one concern. After ordering I saw where their website required that you wait 30 days for delivery before contacting them. I almost canceled the order when I saw this. In today’s world, if the items in stock when you order, if you haven't received it in 10 days, that's a problem. However, the item shipped the next day and I received it just a few days later. The actual buying experience was excellent and would buy from them again.

Just as the video(s) depict.Installation time was about 10 minutes.I have always launched and retrieved my 24' Crownline alone and have gotten rather good at it over the years. The Drotto has cut the time, but more importantly, it has made it dramatically easier. As I physically age, this is becoming more important with a solo launch and retrieve.Of course, I like the American made factor, it is a quality unit.Additionally, the order process was easy, I was kept informed during the cycle and the product came before its estimated arrival.

Love this product. I have a 2020 Lund Impact 1775. ShorLandr Trailer with composite bunks. This unit installed with ease. No issues. Completed the installation at the launch in minutes. Recovered the boat on the very first try and the Drotto worked as promised. Once recovered I found I had to move the winch tower forward 3". So we backed the boat back into the water at launch. Pulled the rope and she was free. No more wet feet. Moved the winch forward and recovered again - Perfectly! She was on the trailer perfectly aligned with the end of the bunks. I trailed the boat to NY State to one of the Finger Lakes and the latch held for a 600 Mile round trip. Higly recoomend this product. Installation was as described. Easy to use - no brainer! Very well built. Made in the USA. Thank you Drotto and good luck and success.

Excellent product. Took the issues away that my 21’ G3 had while loading due to it’s almost vertical V shaped hull.

Works as designed. Seams to be operating as expected. Just concerned about how long it will hold. I had to modify my trailer bow stop. It’s a double roller type. I modified it to a single roller for Droto to work properly. I’m also concerned with how much weight it’s holding while on my steep boat ramp with a roller trailer. Works great as it is though

I fish a lot by myself and loading my boat is as easy as easy. I don’t use it to unload because I have the ultera self deploy trolling motor. With that said what I use it for is worth every dime.
