Ramp N Clamp Compatibility Explained.
Question 1: How much does your boat weigh? The Ramp N Clamp is designed to handle boats up to 6,500lbs. Anything over 6,500lbs we do not recommend using the product.
Question 2: What can the Ramp N Clamp be installed on? The Ramp N Clamp is designed for Boats with at least a Semi V front bow. The Ramp N Clamp will not work on a pontoon or jet ski.
Question 3: What Type of V is on the front bow of the boat? The Ramp N Clamp is designed for a Deep V and Semi V front boat. It will not work on a flat front boat.
Question 4: Where is the location of the eye on the boat compared to your current roller? The Ramp N clamp is designed to take the place of the roller on the front of the trailer. If you install our clamp where the roller was, but the eye of the boat is below the roller more than an inch, The eye of the boat can’t reach the clamp system to lock in. The eye of the boat MUST be touching your current roller so the clamp will be able to lock. If it is not touching you will need to lower the winch stand down so the eye of the boat and our locking mechanism line up correctly. If you have this issue and no adjustment on your trailer, our clamp will not work with your setup. This is the exact same scenario if the eye of the boat is above your current roller. If you install the clamp, your eye will go over the top of the clamp and not lock in. You will need to adjust your winch stand up in order to line up the eye of the boat and our clamp system. If you have this issue and your winch arm is not adjustable, or clamp will not work.
Question 5: What type of boat eye do you have on your boat?
The Ramp N Clamp is designed to accommodate a standard u bolt that measures 1/2″ thick or less and 4 specific aluminum eyes. You will need to reference the photos and match up the eye you have to the eyes our clamp is compatible with.
Question 6: What is the distance between the eye on your boat and the tip of the nose? The Ramp N Clamp needs a minimum of 8.5 inches of clearance between the eye of the boat and the tip of the nose. Our clamp needs to be able to rest on the bow of the boat and not interfere with the tip of the nose when trailering.
Question 7: Do you have any obstruction on the bow of the boat that might interfere with the clamp laying flat against the bow or hit when launching or loading the boat? The Ramp N Clamp is designed to smoothly travel along the bow of the boat when loading and launching. If there are any obstructions deeper or protruding more than 2.5 inches on the bow of the boat, this will cause issues and we do not recommend our clamp with your setup. Also if you have a large pad on the boat thicker than 1/2 inch the clamp may not work with your setup either.
Question 8: What is the angle or slope of the front of your boat? The Ramp N Clamp is designed to travel along the bow of the boat roughly 4 inches and lock in. The steeper the angle or slope of the bow the less distance the clamp can travel along the bow to lock in. The more horizontal the bow is the better.
