Drotto Latch Large Model: Well made product. Would recommend. Did have one concern. After ordering I saw where their website required that you wait 30 days for delivery before contacting them. I almost canceled the order when I saw this. In today’s world, if the items in stock when you order, if you haven't received it in 10 days, that's a problem. However, the item shipped the next day and I received it just a few days later. The actual buying experience was excellent and would buy from them again.

Just as the video(s) depict.Installation time was about 10 minutes.I have always launched and retrieved my 24' Crownline alone and have gotten rather good at it over the years. The Drotto has cut the time, but more importantly, it has made it dramatically easier. As I physically age, this is becoming more important with a solo launch and retrieve.Of course, I like the American made factor, it is a quality unit.Additionally, the order process was easy, I was kept informed during the cycle and the product came before its estimated arrival.

Love this product. I have a 2020 Lund Impact 1775. ShorLandr Trailer with composite bunks. This unit installed with ease. No issues. Completed the installation at the launch in minutes. Recovered the boat on the very first try and the Drotto worked as promised. Once recovered I found I had to move the winch tower forward 3". So we backed the boat back into the water at launch. Pulled the rope and she was free. No more wet feet. Moved the winch forward and recovered again - Perfectly! She was on the trailer perfectly aligned with the end of the bunks. I trailed the boat to NY State to one of the Finger Lakes and the latch held for a 600 Mile round trip. Higly recoomend this product. Installation was as described. Easy to use - no brainer! Very well built. Made in the USA. Thank you Drotto and good luck and success.

Excellent product. Took the issues away that my 21’ G3 had while loading due to it’s almost vertical V shaped hull.

Works as designed. Seams to be operating as expected. Just concerned about how long it will hold. I had to modify my trailer bow stop. It’s a double roller type. I modified it to a single roller for Droto to work properly. I’m also concerned with how much weight it’s holding while on my steep boat ramp with a roller trailer. Works great as it is though

I fish a lot by myself and loading my boat is as easy as easy. I don’t use it to unload because I have the ultera self deploy trolling motor. With that said what I use it for is worth every dime.

I’m getting up in age and realized that reaching over the bow to hook the boat to the trailer strap was getting to be a real pain. Having to crawl over the trolling motor/prop was also uncomfortable if not a little dangerous. All this while keeping the motor running and in gear was just an accident waiting to happen. I am posting because I found a product made in the USA that works for me. It’s an automatic boat loading and launching system. I’m also no longer scouring the bottom past the end of the ramp concrete. To launch, pull the handle back to release the latch. To load, drive the boat to the bow roller and “click!”, I’m now ready for my wife to pull the trailer with the boat securely attached. This is also a huge timesaver at the boat ramp, generally appreciated by others waiting for the ramp. This is a great product and I would buy it again should I ever get another rig.

Please tell us about your experience with the boat latch:
“I have a new boat. The quad bunk trailer is awesome, but I need to set it deep in the water as I fish alone a lot. To crank a boat this heavy on quad bunks can be hard. I saw this video on face book. Checked out the web site. For a little over $200 I ordered one. I had it in hand thirty six hours later. A ten minute install was all it took. My first use was on Wolf river(heavy moving water) in Wisconsin during the Walleye and White bass run. People and boats everywhere. It is a zoo. but the fishing is amazing. The unload was with two guys went as usual. The loading was the big payoff. I put trailer in deeper. My brother(Ranger owner) idling in heavy current drove boat on and with a snap shut of the jaws the boat was on and secure. This got a lot of heads to turn. I never have to get in water or crank up this boat again. I was ready to buy an electric winch. The videos say it all. It absolutely works that good. Every boat over sixteen feet should come from the showroom with this on. “

What make and model of boat did you hook the boat latch on? Skeeter WX 1880
How easy was the install?: Easy
Please tell us about your experience with the boat latch:
“This is easily the best investment for my boat and trailer that I could have made. It is so easy to load and unload that we are using the boat more often. No more getting in the cold water to attach straps. Just glide onto the trailer and let the device snap onto your eye on the front. Pull the boat out slowly and the boat automatically centers itself on the trailer. The AIS inspector last weekend said he wishes everyone would have these on their trailer. We loaded in less than 30 seconds. Others were taking 10 minutes in the rain. “

MIKE WALSH (MN)

What make and model of boat did you hook the boat latch on? LUND 18FT. EXPLORER
How easy was the install?: Easy
Please tell us about your experience with the boat latch:
“So far this product is working great, I have a roller trailer and my boat comes off very easy and when I drive the boat on the trailer I no longer have to keep the motor running and run up to the front of the boat to attach the strap and safety chain. When you drive the boat on the trailer you can hear it latch on. When you put boat in the water you just lift the lever and the boat rolls off. I would recommend this to anyone with a roller trailer it’s great if you fish alone it makes things a lot easier. I would not trust this to be the only thing holding your boat on I still use the strap and safety chain.”

David Siver (SD)

“I used it for the first time today and love it. Sure makes my life easier when I fish alone. I used to crawl over the bow down onto the tongue to unhook the winch and safety chain then crawl back up over the bow. The older I get the harder it is to do plus I am looking at knee replacement within the next year and the Boat2Trailer latch is going to provide me the ability to take my boat out whenever I want.”

Mike Durgan (MN)

What make and model of boat did you hook the boat latch on? 2015 Super Hawk 1850
How easy was the install?: Easy
Please tell us about your experience with the boat latch:
“The installation took 20 minutes in my garage. The Boat2trailer product has worked every time and makes loading the boat much faster. I can safely and quickly load my boat alone. Unloading the boat depends on the ramp angle and conditions, but the product has made the process much easier. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.”

Jeff Anderson (MN)

“Love it just tried it out last weekend”

Mike Dahlberg (MN)

“Bought one and I LOVE this thing, easy installation and works like a charm!!!!”

Daniel Loebach (MN)

“This thing is awesome! Made loading and unloading the boat a million times easier, especially if all by yourself.”

I fish the river and the water goes up and down so can I adjust the angle on the boat2 trailer. I now have a boat buddy and does not work well because it is cheaply made

I see that most use your product on a roller trailer. I have a Lund Tyee 1800 on a bunk trailer. Is your product as effective on a bunk as a roller trailer?

Reply
Robert Waterbury

Yes it certainly is. Many customers install the product on bunk trailers and roller trailers alike.

This is an amazing product and takes the stress and work out of launching my 18′ Lund Alaskan tiller. Very easy to install on my Shore Lander trailer. A couple of things to watch for, after the installation check to see where the back rollers on the trailer are in reference to the transom. I had to move my winch ahead 3 inches to accommodate the new unit to get the transom on the roller correctly. Only one thing that I noticed was that I have to place my trailer on the water a little shallower when loading the boat so the boat was resting on the rollers, then it went into the catch on the new unit perfectly. Great unit so far.

I have had mine now for a while and it has made launching and retrieving a boat so much easier. once that chick sound is heard that boat is locked secure and will not go anywhere. the handle release makes a one person operation easy as well. well worth the price. I have showed it to quite a few people who seemed interested in how it works and I have seen more trailers with these units mounted on them. installation was easy as well. good product.

Installed on my Crestliner 1800 Superhawk. Matched my galvanized trailer ((Shoreland’r) perfectly. Worked perfectly the first time which was the setup installation and the five times I’ve trailered it since. Saves me and my better half a lot of stress at the boat landing. Great invention

Installed on my 2016 Tracker Pro Staff TXW… Was concerned because the bow eye is constructed of Aluminum and is welded to the boat. It’s a but thicker than the eyes seen on the videos… But good news… It’s works great! So happy with this product!

Richard,
Thanks for the review of the catch and release. I’m ordering both today. I jumped from the boat to the dock and it was wet of course and I busted my butt and sprained my hand. Come home and started researching. Started reading post and read yours. Always want to be safe so I have ordered the Boat2Trailer and the easy step.
Safe Boating is the only practice. Can’t wait to receive them.
Thanks!

Installed the Drotto on my trailer that loads an 18 ft. Seaswirl and it is fantastic. Works well and greatly simplifies single person loading and launching. Now having just bought a much bigger boat (a 24 foot Grady White) I am wondering if the Drotto will work on it also. It seems like it should but I thought that I would ask if you have seen it on a bigger boat.

Installed on a tracker trailer. The eye on the tracker pro guide 175wt is a bit small and the winch hook a bit large. Ground the hook down a bit and now it fits fine. Works great and makes loading the boat a breeze. Would highly recommend this product.

Definitely one of the best products I’ve purchased for boating. Put it on in 20 minutes. Works slick. No more winching and taking up time at the boat ramp. Last time I came in I met someone going out who had just installed a Drotto boat latch that very day. Thanks for making the boating experience so much easier.

This product isn’t just great. IT’S AWESOME!! I belong to a pretty large local Walleye Club and other members that’ve seen me use it, are simply amazed. I do have to say this, though. Whoever came up with this idea, deserves to be a gazillionaire!! I have quite a few other anglers, including fellow tournament anglers that’ve seen me use at various types of boat landings and just say WOW! I have my own guide service. Once I had it on my personal rig and used it, it went on all my other boat trailers. I’m VERY particular about what product(s) I endorse and promote. BUT it’s easy to do both, when it comes to this system. THANK YOU for building such a GREAT product. I’m 63 yrs. old and the Drotto system makes me LOOK like genius, when it comes to working smarter, not harder!! PLEASE keep up the great job!!

This product far exceeds our expectations. Installation was simple, instructions clear and accurate. Saves alot of wet feet when we are exiting the water. Not any chance of slipping on mossy docks. Minor adjustments were simple to make sure boat was solid on trailer. We own a Lund, and this fit perfectly and launches smoothly. Could not be happier with performance and quality.
